The goal of the Celtic Community of Anchorage (CCA) is to celebrate our shared Celtic heritage and disseminate the latest information and happenings in the Celtic community of south central Alaska. We are a dynamic and flourishing community which welcomes your participation.
Please plan to join us in celebrating Samhain, Celtic New Year, on Saturday, October 25th
The Celtic Community of Anchorage invites you to join the Samhain celebration on Saturday, October 25 at 7:00 PM at the Anchorage Senior Activity Center. Doors open at 6:30 pm.
Advance tickets are available at Celtic Treasures for $20 each; they will be $25 at the door. Admission includes a light dinner, and entertainment by several local Celtic dance and musical groups. (For those of age and inclination, there will be beer, wine, mead, whiskey, and scotch available for purchase.)
A fire ceremony, ancestor walk, and costume contest will be held. This year we spotlight Cornwall, a peninsula on the southwest end of the island of Great Britain smaller than the state of Rhode Island, but rich in history and culture. It is from this diminutive locale that both King Arthur and the Pirates of Penzance spring forth, as well as several centuries of tin mining supremacy.
The costume contest theme is “Pirates, Paladins, Piskies, and Pickaxes”; the infamous, legendary, supernatural, and ordinary individuals of history and folklore.
Whether you don the costume of a bygone era or the garb of your daily life, we hope to see you at Samhain to celebrate another year.
